Cu Chi Tunnels and the Mekong Delta in One Day
The Cu Chi tunnels and the Mekong Delta in one day from Ho Chi Minh City: the route and the distances, the time on the road, and what the price includes.
The combined day does the Cu Chi tunnels in the morning and the Mekong Delta at My Tho in the afternoon, about 10 to 11 hours door to door, with lunch and the boat trips included. Vietnam Adventure Tours’ Cu Chi Tunnels & Mekong Delta with Coconut Village Tour collects you between about 7:30 and 8 am and has you back about 6:30 to 7 pm, from $35 in current promotion (usually $39) a person (checked November 2026), with 14,743 reviews: about twice the price of the half day at the tunnels alone.
The calendar above is Vietnam Adventure Tours’ Cu Chi and Mekong Delta day, with 14,743 reviews (checked November 2026).
The short answer
Book the combined day if you have one free day in Ho Chi Minh City and want both: it is the cheapest way to see both, and the entry fees, boat trips and lunch are in the price. Expect a long day in a vehicle, because the tunnels are north-west of the city and My Tho is south-west of it, so the road runs out, back across the city and out again. With two free days, two separate trips give more time at each place: the Cu Chi half day from $16 in current promotion (usually $18) (checked November 2026), and a Mekong Delta trip on another day.

The route and the distances

By road it is 43.7 km from Ben Thanh Market to the Ben Dinh tunnels, 102.2 km from Ben Dinh to the river pier at My Tho, and 73.0 km from My Tho back to Ben Thanh Market: about 219 km in the day. The tunnels are north-west of the city and My Tho is south-west of it, so the middle leg comes back past the city before it heads for the delta. Kim Travel allows about 3 hours for that leg; Vietnam Adventure Tours’ timetable has you at the tunnels for the morning and in My Tho for the afternoon.
How the day runs
Vietnam Adventure Tours’ day starts with pickup from central hotels between about 7:30 and 8 am, or at its office at 123 Ly Tu Trong Street, District 1. About 1.5 hours by road brings you to the tunnels, where you get about 3 hours: the film, the tunnel area with a guide, short crawls through selected tunnels, and the shooting range for those who want it, with the bullets at their own cost. Lunch is at a local restaurant, with vegan dishes on request.
In the afternoon the van goes on to My Tho, on the Mekong. There is a boat trip on the river, then a sampan, a small rowing boat, through narrow canals lined with coconut palms, a visit to a family house for fruit and honey tea, and a short set of folk songs by villagers. You are back at Ben Thanh Market or the operator’s office about 6:30 to 7 pm. Fruit, a bottle of water and travel insurance are included.

The other combined days
Kim Travel’s HCM: Cu Chi Tunnels & Mekong Delta, and Coconut Village Tour is the longer version, about 11 hours from a 7 to 8 am pickup: about 2 hours at the tunnels, an hour for lunch, then about 3 hours on the road to Tien Giang. There it adds a motorboat to Coconut Island, a coconut workshop, a honey farm and a tuk-tuk or electric-car ride along the lanes, from $35 in current promotion (usually $37) a person (checked November 2026). Its list of inclusions names the boat rides, the lunch and the travel insurance but not the tunnel entrance fee; ask Kim Travel before booking whether it is covered.
Vietnam Adventure Tours’ Cu Chi Tunnels & Mekong Delta VIP Tour by Limousine is the same day as the main one in a VIP vehicle, with hotel pickup and drop-off in Districts 1, 3 and 4, from $53 in current promotion (usually $66) (checked November 2026). On Viator, the same operator's combined day prices its options from $31 in the standard group to $39 in a small group of up to 12 and $56 by limousine (checked November 2026).
One day or two
The combined day costs about twice the Cu Chi half day and includes lunch and the boats. What it cannot give you is time. The two to three hours at the tunnels match a half day, but the afternoon in the delta is short, and the last part of the day is the evening drive back into the city. If you are tired of vehicles by the end of a half day, two days are better. If you have only one day, the combined tour is the way to fit both in.
